SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA — GrainCorp on Nov. 2 announced the appointment of Nigel Hart to the position of group general manager, storage and logistics. The appointment, which will be effective Nov. 8, follows the resignation of Bruce Griffin.
"Bruce Griffin brought a number of valuable disciplines to the GrainCorp Storage and Logistics business unit during his 18 months as group general manager," GrainCorp Chief Executive Officer Alison Watkins said. "On behalf of the GrainCorp board and employees, I thank Bruce for his contribution to the company and wish him well in his future endeavors." Watkins said a prompt transition of management is taking place to ensure the business of receiving and handling grain across the company’s network is not disrupted.
"Nigel Hart has been with GrainCorp in various management roles for more than 10 years, most recently as general manager of ports. In that role, he achieved a significant increase in grain and non-grain earnings, and oversaw the introduction of the port access regulations, which required a number of business practice changes. He also led the development of a very strong culture within the ports business unit."
She said the company will embark upon on internal and external search to appoint a successor to the role of general manager, ports.
