MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, U.S. — MGEX announced on Dec. 1 that it set a new annual electronic trading record in 2011. With 21 trading days left in the calendar year, more than 1.5 million contracts have traded electronically at MGEX in 2011, breaking the previous record set in 2010.
Further, November 2011 broke into the top 25 of monthly electronic trading records.
The quick pace to the new calendar year electronic trading record was fueled by six new monthly electronic trading records. February 2011 topped all electronic trading months with 197,362 contracts traded.
Total calendar year to date exchange volume of hard red spring wheat futures and options trading is currently running 9% higher than during the same period a year ago.
