The national average retail price of white pan bread was $1.33, down 4.9¢ per lb from May and down 13.4¢ from June 2015. It was the lowest average price since February 2008, when it was $1.32. On a month-to-month basis, the average price for white pan bread in June decreased in all four regions — down 9.8¢ in the Northeast, down 5.2¢ in the South, down 2.6¢ in the Midwest and down 1.1¢ in the West.
At $1.97 per lb, the national average price for whole wheat bread was up 1.5¢ per lb from May and up 2¢ per lb from June 2015. It was the highest level for whole wheat since November 2015.

The national average price for spaghetti and macaroni in June was $1.29 per lb, down 2.8¢ from May and down 6.8¢ from June 2015. Chocolate chip cookies were $3.32 per lb, down 10.3¢ from May but up 3.4¢ from June 2015. The national average price of white long-grain rice was 73.4¢ per lb, down 1.3¢ from May but up 4.3¢ from June 2015.
