The AFIA-KSU Feed Manufacturing Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes and honors U.S. feed industry retirees -- or those who are no longer serving the industry or allied industries -- who have made a significant contribution to animal feed in the U.S.. Individuals are nominated in the areas of business, science and technology. The award began in 1995 and has only been awarded to 18 individuals, with the last recipient in 2003.
Wagester has more than 50 years of experience in engineering. In 1975, he founded Wagester Engineering, which is now known as WL Port-Land Systems, Inc.
"One of Eugene's most notable contributions to the industry was his assistance in the design and development of what was known to be the largest capacity feed mill in the industry in 1992," said Gary Huddleston, AFIA manager of feed manufacturing safety and environmental affairs.
Wagester was also known for the slipform concrete structure design and constructing a round bin hopper for ingredient and finish feed storage.
