MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, U.S. — General Mills, Inc. said it has completed its review of the proposed closing of its manufacturing facility in Berwick, United Kingdom, and has decided to close the plant by this fall.
The company had announced a proposal to close the Berwick facility on Oct. 29, 2015, but the proposal was subject to consultation with employee representatives and union officials. That consultation process has closed and a decision was made to proceed with the proposal, General Mills said. The company now will begin the necessary phases to close the plant, which will impact approximately 265 positions.
The Berwick facility manufactures baking mixes and refrigerated and frozen dough products. General Mills has operated it since 2001.
