ANTWERP, BELGIUM — COCERAL said on May 22 that Jaana Kleinschmit was elected president by the General Assembly on May 22.
Succeeding Paul Della Tolla, Kleinschmit will serve a two-year term until 2017. She is a member of the management of ADM Hamburg Aktiengesellschaft, general manager of Germany GmbH and representing the German grain trade association, Verein der Getreidehändler der Hamburger Börse e.V. (VdG).
After being elected, Kleinschmit said she will strive to reinvigorate the commitment of members and to reinforce the cohesion of national associations toward COCERAL.
“We live at times with many opportunities for a thriving agricultural sector that also face challenging constraints coming from E.U. policies. COCERAL will unite its membership to ensure that innovation and better regulation become the real guiding principles of E.U. policies, especially for agriculture,” Kleinschmit said. “We need liberalized markets for agricultural trade that also meet increasing demands from consumers for healthy diets at affordable prices.”
COCERAL is the European association representing the trade in cereals, rice, feedstuffs, oilseeds, olive oil, oils and fats and agrosupply.
