LENEXA, KANSAS, U.S. — The International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM) elected a new president and vice-president during its 119th annual conference and expo on May 7 in Palm Springs, California, U.S.
 
Roy Loepp, director of quality with Seaboard Overseas and Trading Group in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, U.S, was elected the 111th president of the association.  Brad Allen, vice-president and operations lead for Ardent Mills in Denver, Colorado, U.S., was unanimously elected vice-president.

 
Loepp said the theme for his presidency is: “Building a proud global fellowship.” He has been an active member of IAOM since 1990 and has served as a member of the IAOM Education Committee since 2000.
 
From 2014-15 Loepp served as president of the International Milling Education Foundation (IMEF), a philanthropic partner of IAOM that funds a variety of educational programs related to the grain milling industry.
 
Loepp is a native of Inman, Kansas, U.S. and graduated from Kansas State University in 1989 with a degree in milling science and management. Upon graduation, he joined Cargill, Inc., as a production manager, and worked with the company in plants in Topeka, Kansas, U.S. and Springfield, Illinois, U.S.  In 1995 he took a milling technologist position at Seaboard Corporation in Shawnee Mission. Since, he has served numerous divisions of Seaboard with roles in engineering, operations, and technical services. Loepp has a master’s of business administration degree from the University of Kansas.
 
As vice-president, Allen will be responsible for overseeing preparations for the association’s 2016 conference in Columbus, Ohio, U.S. He is in line to serve as the association’s president from 2016-17. Allen has been an active member of IAOM since 1996.
 
Allen has served as a member of the IAOM Employee Relations Committee since 2002. While serving as IAOM vice-president, he will also be president of the International Milling Education Foundation (IMEF), a philanthropic partner of IAOM that funds a variety of educational programs related to the grain milling industry.
 
Allen is a native of Independence, Missouri, U.S. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration at Central Missouri State University, in Warrensburg, Missouri, U.S. and an executive master’s of business administration degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, U.S.
 
In 1981 he joined Cargill Animal Nutrition. Over the subsequent 14 years, he held several management positions in Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S.; Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; and Mentone, Indiana, U.S., for Cargill.
 
In 1996 he joined ConAgra Mills as an operations manager for their flour milling operations in Alton, Illinois, U.S.; Chester, Illinois, U.S.; and North Kansas City, Missouri, U.S., plants. From 2000-14, Allen served as vice-president of manufacturing for ConAgra Mills. In 2014 he was appointed vice-president and operations lead for Ardent Mills – a flour milling company that combines the operations of ConAgra Mills and Horizon Milling, a Cargill-CHS joint venture. Allen is also a member of AIB International’s board of trustees.
