MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, U.S. — Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) Executive Vice-President and International Secretary David Krejci received the Outstanding Service Award from the Kansas State University (KSU) Department of Grain Science and Industry on April 23. The award is given annually.
“Krejci has been instrumental in working with KSU in establishing the GEAPS/KSU continuing education and credentialing programs as the gold standard for professional development in the global grain operations and processing industry,” said Brandi Miller, assistant director, IGP Institute. “He was also critical in GEAPS being represented on the department’s Advisory Council, which he has chaired since 2013. Few if any of our recent Outstanding Service Award winners have served so actively, invested so many hours and visited campus so frequently as Krejci during the past seven years. Thus, he is most deserving of the 2015 GSI Outstanding Service Award.”
Krejci has served as GEAPS executive vice-president and International secretary since 1987.
“All I can say is wow,” Krejci said. “It is a tremendous honor, especially knowing some of the past recipients. The award is really in recognition of collective service, not a solo effort ... through collaboration of KSU Grain Science and Industry Advisory Council and support of GEAPS leaders and my professional staff colleagues. It says a lot about the relationship between GEAPS and Kansas State University. We have a shared goal of training the next generation of industry professionals to ensure the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the grain-based foods supply chain, and it is a great accolade to be recognized by an organization we work so closely with.”
