REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA — Viterra announced on Nov. 2 that it has completed its acquisition of Twin Rivers Technologies Entreprises De Transformation De Graines Oleagineuses Du Quebec Inc. (TRT-ETGO) through a share purchase agreement. The agreement was originally announced on Aug. 27, and has received all pertinent shareholder and regulatory approvals. The acquisition includes a canola and soybean crushing and refining plant located in Becancour, Quebec, Canada.
"We're pleased to integrate this quality asset into our overall business, and to welcome new employees to Viterra's team," said Kyle Jeworski, Viterra's president and chief executive officer for North America. "We look forward to connecting our farm customers with additional marketing opportunities for their canola and soybeans, and in working with our end users to provide high quality oil and meal products."
With a crushing capacity of 1.05 million tonnes per year, TRT-ETGO is the largest oilseed processing plant in Eastern Canada, Viterra said. The plant began operations in 2010 and produces vegetable oil for food and industrial markets, as well as meal for the livestock industry. The plant is located on the St. Lawrence Seaway, and is in close proximity to Viterra's trading office and port facility in Montreal, Canada.
