WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S. — The North American Millers’ Association (NAMA) announced on Oct. 20 that Paige Smoyer has joined NAMA as government affairs representative.
Smoyer joined NAMA from National Confectioners Association (NCA), where she focused on science and regulatory affairs issues pertaining to the cocoa, chocolate, and candy industries as an intern. Prior to her work at NCA, Smoyer had internships at Food Directions LLC and Food Marketing Institute.
“We are delighted to have Paige join our team at NAMA,” said Jim McCarthy, NAMA president and chief executive officer. “Her education in food science and recent experience made her an ideal candidate for this position and we look forward to introducing her to our membership.”
Smoyer graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor’s of science degree in food science, and a minor in international agriculture. Smoyer is a native of McLean, Virginia, U.S. and grew-up in the Washington, D.C. area.
NAMA is the trade association of the wheat, corn, oat, and rye milling industries. Member companies operate mills in 38 states and Canada, representing more than 90% total industry production capacity.
