MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN, U.S. — Angelic Bakehouse, a bakery specializing in sprouted grain products, has received Non-GMO Project Verified status for its best-selling product: Sprouted Seven-Grain bread. The Non-GMO Project is North America’s only third-party source for verification and labeling of non-bioengineered food and beverage products.
The company said the bread’s packaging will begin featuring the Non-GMO Project Verified seal later this month, and the remainder of the company’s products, including wraps, flatbreads and buns, are expected to be Non-GMO Project Verified by the end of this year.
“Angelic Bakehouse is all about creating pure bread perfection — using the purest non-G.M.O. ingredients and crafting them into something better through our unique sprouted grain mash process,” said Jenny Marino, president and chief executive officer of Angelic Bakehouse. ”We’ve always insisted on using non-GMO ingredients, but the verification process is another way for us to be transparent.”
The Non-GMO Project’s Product Verification Program (PVP) designates a product’s compliance with the Non-GMO Project standards based on a variety of factors, including traceability, segregation and testing of high-risk ingredients. According to the organization, the verification process typically takes on average four to six months. Angelic’s seven-grain bread was verified in less than 60 days.
