With other analytical solutions it has been necessary for oil crushers to use different instruments and methods to get the information they need during the oil production process. Having just one, easy-to-use unit promotes more frequent testing, giving more data and more power to control the production process.
Instrument users can measure the solid samples in the normal sample holder and then use a unique gold reflector cup for liquid oil samples. The intuitive touch screen interface makes it fast and easy for any user to switch between sample types. The cup and gold reflector for the liquid samples are specially designed with an optically selected path length to give consistent measurements for oil by controlling the physical boundaries for the near infrared (NIR) transflectance measurements exactly.
All NIRS DA1650 instruments are factory-standardized for consistency across units. This allows for straightforward calibration transferability from unit to unit or from earlier solutions where users can re-use valuable calibration data.
Individual units can be connected to the internet with FOSS Mosaic software for remote management. More than a simple internet connection, the Mosaic software allows instruments to be monitored and calibration adjustments and updates to be made remotely. These tasks can be performed across multiple instruments and multiple sites instantly in one go.
Maintenance is minimal with the NIRS DA1650 as there is only one instrument to look after. It is also available pre-calibrated removing the need to invest time and resources in developing new calibration models.
The robust unit can be used either in a laboratory or close to the production line where the sealed DDA platform withstands vibration, dust or spills that can occur during regular use by plant operators. The surface of the gold reflector in the liquid sample is protected by quartz glass to avoid wear.
