DECATUR, ILLINOIS, U.S. — Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM) said on April 24 that it has committed a total of $2 million in grants for 2014 to more than 75 organizations and programs in the Decatur, Illinois, U.S., area.
The grants include a $125,000 contribution to create and implement a development plan for the Midwest Inland Port with the goal of attracting new businesses to central Illinois.
ADM also is contributing $320,000 to Decatur public schools and making grants to other private schools and public school districts in Macon County.
“Decatur is home to our largest employee population, and we want to do our part to help ensure Decatur remains a strong and vibrant community for many years to come,” said Victoria Podesta, vice-president and chief communications officer for ADM.
About 4,400 ADM employees worked in Decatur last September when the company announced it was moving its global headquarters from the town. ADM last December chose Chicago, Illinois, U.S., as the global headquarters location, but Patricia Woertz, chairman and chief executive officer, said ADM will continue to have a significant presence in Decatur.
