CENTENNIAL, COLORADO, U.S. — Penford Food Ingredients has launched PenDure CW, a non-bioengineered white corn protein ingredient. It contains a minimum of 50% protein and has been shown to enrich low-moisture foods. Potential applications include baked foods, cereal, breakfast and nutrition bars, gluten-free products, snacks and tortillas.
“The food industry is seeing an increased demand for high-protein foods for a variety of reasons like health and satiety,” said John Randall, president of Centennial, Colorado, U.S.-based Penford Food Ingredients. “We’ve introduced PenDure CW in response to this need, offering manufacturers an ingredient that is protein-rich while also providing a host of functional benefits.”
Penford’s existing white corn product portfolio includes PenFibe CW, a non-bioengineered white corn fiber ingredient, and PenGerm CW, a white corn-based germ that is non-bioengineered.
