WINNIPEG, MANITOBA, CANADA — The Canadian Grain Commission issued on June 18 a reminder about grain grading changes that come into effect on July 1 in Eastern Canada. 

Currently, commercial cleanliness requirements for Triticale, Canada (CAN) do not include tolerances for roughage. As recommended by the Eastern Standards Committee at its April 2013 meeting, the following roughage tolerance for exports of Canadian triticale takes effect in Eastern Canada as of July 1: 
•           Triticale, Canada (CAN) — 0.1% Total small seeds, attrition and roughage 
Currently, the moisture specification for dry grain for barley in the food class is 14.8% for both covered and hulless varieties. 

As recommended by the Eastern Standards Committee at its November 2012 meeting, the following moisture specifications for dry grain for Barley, Canada Eastern Food (CE) take effect on July 1: 
•           Food barley, covered — 13.5% 
•           Food barley, hulless — 14.0% 

The Official Grain Grading Guide as of July 1 will be posted shortly before the start of the new crop year.
