GENEVA, SWITZERLAND — Glencore announced on May 2 that it has completed its merger with mining company Xstrata. The company’s new name is Glencore Xstrata plc.
The merger was first announced in February 2012. Final approval was given by the Chinese authorities and the High Court of Justice of England and Wales in April.
In accordance with previous announcements, the directors of the combined group are now Sir John Bond (chairman), Ivan Glasenberg, Leonhard Fischer, Anthony Hayward, William Macaulay, Con Fauconnier, Peter Hooley, Sir Steve Robson and Ian Strachan.
