The average price paid for winter wheat in February was $7.69 per bushel, down 32¢ from $8.01 in January but up $1.01 from $6.68 in February 2012. The average price paid for durum was $7.87 per bushel, down 37¢ from $8.24 per bushel in January and down $1.11 from $8.98 in February 2012. Spring wheat other than durum averaged $7.85 per bushel, down 48¢ from $8.33 in January 2013 and down 16¢ from $8.01 in February 2012.
The average price paid for all rice was $15.30 a cwt, up 80c from $14.50 in January and up $1.20 from $14.10 in February 2012.
The February index of prices received by farmers for food grains was 249 compared with the 1990-92 base of 100, down 3% from 257 in January but up 10% from 227 in February 2012.
The February index of feed grains was 295, down 2% from 300 in January but up 10% from 268 in February 2012. The average price paid to farmers for corn was $6.89 per bushel, down 7¢ from $6.96 in January but up 61¢ from $6.28 in February 2012. Farmers received an average of $11.80 a cwt for grain sorghum in February, down 20¢ from $12 in January but up $1 from $10.80 in February 2012. The average price paid for oats in February was $3.80 a bushel, down 25¢ from $4.05 in January but up 33¢ from $3.47 in February 2012.
The index of February prices received for oilseeds was 248, down 2% from 253 in January but up 13% from 220 in February 2012. Farmers received an average of $14.20 a bushel for soybeans in February, down 10¢ from $14.30 in January but up $2 from $12.20 in February 2012.
