ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA, U.S. — The American Feed Industry Association’s (AFIA) Equipment Manufacturer’s Committee (EMC) will offer two new scholarships in an effort to support students who have chosen an educational pathway in the feed and grain industry at a qualified, higher educational institution, AFIA announced on Nov. 11. The two scholarships will be administered in addition to the original scholarship offered to students attending Kansas State University (KSU) in an agricultural capacity.
At the annual Equipment Manufacturers Conference, attendees raised $2,665 for the scholarship program through donations, the golf tournament and a raffle. The conference was held in Amelia Island, Florida, U.S., Nov. 7-9, and focused on “Developing Your People for Tomorrow’s Business, Today.”
“The addition of not one but two new scholarship opportunities to the EMC Scholarship Fund is a highly anticipated move forward by the Equipment Manufacturers Committee,” said Committee Chair Randy Stauffer,InterSystems. “The fund has been beneficial to KSU students for years and now those benefits will be shared with students enrolled in agricultural programs at like institutions.”
EMC is currently finalizing the criteria for the university selection process. Following the university selection process by EMC, applications can be submitted by universities for scholarship consideration. Both new scholarships will be awarded in spring 2014 and are five-year commitments by EMC to the two selected universities.
