"Through a complete overhaul of its front-end design, the new IAOM.INFO site provides a look and feel that better enables IAOM to deliver well-organized information," said Melinda Farris, executive vice-president. "Taking advantage of leading-edge technology, translation of the site into one of six languages is just a click away."
In addition to the language translation, the revamped IAOM.INFO site includes a more user-friendly navigation within the site tabs. IAOM.INFO also links to an online membership directory as well as archives of conference presentations and web articles.
"The site contains much of the same rich content as was on our previous site; however, we feel that it is now better organized and as a result the information is easier to find," Farris said. "The redesign is one aspect of the strategic plan that the board adopted in 2011 — in an effort to embrace technology to bring greater value to the IAOM membership."
The website reflects IAOM's increased emphasis on web 2.0 tools such as Facebook, which allow greater reach and transparency as well as broader opportunities to highlight the activities of various districts and the efforts of IAOM's international partners.
Additional features and content will be added in the coming months to further enhance the experience for visitors to the site — including training videos and informational video clips.
The new IAOM.INFO was built using an open source content management system. The back-end changes provide a scalable and flexible architecture to empower innovative, efficient distribution of key information while reducing the cost of future investments.
