LACASSINE, LOUISIANA, U.S. — Construction of the Jefferson Davis Parish Police Jury's new rail-loading facility at the Agri-Industrial Park, in Jennings, Louisiana, U.S., is nearing completion. Facility officials say it will provide farmers an additional option for marketing their crops. The facility is being built for the fast and efficient transfer of grain.
The dual truck pit can unload a truck in four minutes and the elevators will be able to handle 25,000 bushels per hour.
Four hopper-bottom tanks can provide 156,000 bushels of pre-positioned cargo to load 40 rail cars. An overhead scale will provide U.S. Department of Agriculture certified weight.
The high-speed rail loading facility will be operated by South Louisiana Rail Facility, LLC.
