KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI, U.S. — The Kansas City Board of Trade (KCBT) during the month of May saw increases in open interest in both the HRW wheat futures and wheat options contracts compared to last month, the KCBT said on June 1.
HRW wheat futures open interest grew 4.2% during the month of May, amounting to 143,369 contracts, compared to 137,590 contracts at the end of April.
Wheat options open interest of 18,241 contracts was an increase of 20.2% compared to the end of April.
Total exchange open interest of 161,610 contracts was an increase of 5.8% compared to open interest at the end of April.
Wheat options volume traded during the month of May amounted to 12,978 contracts, an increase of 89.8% compared to April trading volume.
