EDEN PRAIRIE, MINNESOTA, U.S. — Grain Millers, Inc. has reached a definitive agreement under which it will acquire the milling business of Enreco, Inc., a processor of flaxseed products sold to food and nutritional companies.
Based in Newton, Wisconsin, U.S., Enreco supplies conventional and organic products using what Grain Millers called a “proprietary stabilization method” that includes a “validated 5-log kill step.” Its products are sold principally in the baking, beverage, batters and breadings, cereal and pasta industries.
Original established by Natural Ovens, a Manitowoc, Wisconsin, U.S.-based baking company, Enreco has been owned and run by Sean Moriarty since 2004. With the transaction, Moriarty will retain ownership of Omega Fields, a retail brand of Enreco that focuses on both the animal and human nutrition marketplace.
“This is an ideal acquisition for Grain Millers,” said Steve Eilertson, president of Grain Millers. “Food safety has always been one of our top strategic priorities, and the opportunity to offer our customers a product that has widely-recognized health benefits and a validated kill step was one that we couldn’t pass up. We’ve worked with Enreco for years as a customer and supplier and have first-hand knowledge of the strength of this business. We are thrilled to welcome Enreco’s employees to the Grain Millers team and look forward to building on Enreco’s existing successes.”
Operating from eight locations, Grain Millers offers a wide array of ingredients in the grain, dairy, specialty and feed categories.
