The average price paid for winter wheat in July was $6.98 a bushel, down 15¢ from $7.13 in June but up $2.51 from $4.47 in July 2010. The average price paid for durum was $12.70 a bushel, up $3.73 from $8.97 in June and up $8.26 from $4.44 in July 2010. Spring wheat other than durum averaged $8.46 per bushel, down 80¢ from $9.26 in June but up $3.75 from $4.71 in July 2010.
The average price paid for rough rice in July was $12.50 a cwt, up 70¢ from $11.80 in June but down 10¢ from a year ago.
The July index of prices received by farmers for food grains was 238 compared with the 1990-92 base of 100, down 2% from 243 the previous month but up 55% from 154 in July 2010.
The July index for feed grains was 267, up 2% from 262 the previous month and up 77% from 151 in July 2010. The average price paid to farmers for corn was $6.46 a bushel, up 8¢ from $6.38 in June and up $2.97 from $3.49 in July 2010. Farmers received an average of $11.40 a cwt for grain sorghum in July, up 90¢ from $10.50 in June and up $5.43 from $5.97 in July 2010. The average price paid for oats in July was $3.60 a bushel, up 19¢ from $3.41 in June and up $1.49 from $2.11 in July 2010.
The index of July prices received for oilseeds was 241, up 2% from 237 in June and up 39% from 174 in July 2010. Farmers received an average of $13.40 a bushel for soybeans in July, up 20¢ from $13.20 in June and up $3.61 from $9.79 in July 2010.
