LAGOS, NIGERIA — Flour Mills of Nigeria on April 26 said it is investing in a fertilizer blending plant and bidding for silo complexes from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD). The moves are part of the company’s core strategic focus of “Feeding the Nation, Everyday.”

Although the acquisition date of the silo complexes has not been confirmed, Flour Mills of Nigeria said it has been informed that it has been awarded concessions for three silos.

Meanwhile, construction work on the proposed fertilizer blending plant, located at Kudena, in Kaduna state, has reached an advanced stage. Flour Mills of Nigeria said the installation of the requisite machinery, and the freighting of raw materials and its attendant packaging to the factory sites ahead of production for the next planting season has begun.

“Flour Mills of Nigeria has continued to exhibit its commitment and drive to lead the market in the food and agro-allied sectors,” said Joseph Umolu, secretary and director of legal services for Flour Mills of Nigeria. “Its passion to sustainability as a corporate strategy is evident at several levels of its operations, while its customer-centric culture remains focused on both product and process innovation aimed at building value for all stakeholders.”
