WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S. — The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) is expanding its staff to fill the director of accounting and administration role. Marie Nelson has been appointed to the position. Nelson will be working with the current director of accounting Darcy Wolf to prepare to assume responsibilities for this area of work prior to Wolf’s retirement, which will come in late June of this year.
“It is bittersweet that Darcy will be retiring, and thus leaving us, in June,” said Fred Stemme, vice-president of operations for the NCGA. “At the same time, I am thrilled to be adding someone with Marie’s experience and credentials to the NCGA team. We all look forward to working with her and look forward with excited anticipation to seeing the improvements she will make.”
Nelson most recently was chief financial officer for Galen Insurance Co. in St. Louis, Missouri, U.S. Prior to that, she worked as an internal auditor for AMC Entertainment in Kansas City, Missouri, U.S. Her career also includes time with DST Systems, Nova Star Financial and MetLife. Nelson received a degree in accounting from the University of Missouri-Columbia. The NCGA said she brings a strong skillset to the position as she is a certified public accountant and certified internal auditor.
