“When you factor efficiency improvements, this expansion nearly triples our plant capacity to about 7 million pounds, and enables us to be a better strategic partner for our customers,” said Brady Eckart, director of operations at Firebird. “We’ll have greater flexibility in meeting our customers’ scheduling needs, which is incredibly important as we work for them to help get their products to shelf safely and quickly.”
Firebird is one of a few dedicated gluten-free, allergen-free and non-GMO mills in the world that produces bulk flours, mixes/blends onsite, and packaged goods for both wholesale and retail channels.
Firebird was formed in 2014 by Agspring, a Leawood, Kansas, U.S.-based provider of grain, oilseed and specialty crop handling, processing and logistics operations. The formation of Firebird included Agspring acquiring the assets of Dakota Prairie Organic Flour Co., a milling operation in Harvey.
Firebird is a full service, dedicated gluten-free mill certified to 10 ppm. The company holds a number of certifications, including International Certification Services Gluten-Free and NOP Organic, USDA Organic, European Union Organic Standard, Japan Organic, and Blue Ribbon Kosher.
