WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S. — Craig Berning has joined the staff of the National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG) as government relations coordinator. In this role, Berning will be responsible for supporting the policy team and providing key research on NAWG’s policy priorities.
“NAWG has set our several legislative priorities for 2017, which includes ensuring a successful reauthorization of the 2018 farm bill,” said Chandler Goule, chief executive officer (CEO) of NAWG. “Craig will be instrumental in helping NAWG reach and educate key congressional leaders and staff on these top priorities. I’m looking forward to having him on board and joining the NAWG team.”
Berning has interned at the district office of U.S. Senator Rob Portman, where he staffed the senator at meeting and events as well as assisted in handling constituent casework. He also interned at the Grocery Manufacturers Association and the Agricultural Retailers Association. Berning received a bachelor’s of science degree in agribusiness and applied economics from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, U.S.
“The opportunity to work alongside wheat grower leaders and the NAWG staff excites me,” Berning said. “I look forward to working on NAWG’s legislative efforts to support American wheat growers and industry members and ensuring a better future for the wheat industry.”
