“Russia is one of the largest animal feed markets in Europe producing more than 30 million tons of feed,” said Chris Nelson, PhD, president and chief executive officer of Kemin Industries, which has a Europe, Middle East and Africa regional headquarters in Herentals. “Localizing manufacturing reduces process time and allows us to best serve our Kemin customers in the region.”
The new facilities for Kemin Industries (Lipetsk), LLC, a Kemin subsidiary, are in the Special Economic Zone of Lipetsk. The facilities are part of a five-year global expansion plan for Kemin. The company has served Russia since 1995 and opened a customer service laboratory in Moscow in 2014.
“For more than 20 years, Kemin has established a strong footprint in Russian feed production,” said K.P. Philip, president of Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health. “As the demand for meat production increases in Russia, the need for our value-added products is growing tremendously.
“Now, we can serve one of the largest animal feed markets in Europe with local availability of high-quality feed ingredients, condensed delivery time and reduction of risk with supply chain transportation, all which enables us to grow and better serve the Russian market while increasing the collaboration between our scientists and the direct customers we serve in Russia.”
