WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S. — Abigail Appleton has joined the U.S. Grains Council (USGC) as executive assistant. In this role, she will coordinate administrative and travel arrangements for the Council’s board of directors and executive staff as well as prepare meeting materials for USGC board of directors’ meetings.
“Abigail was born and raised on a hog farm in Iowa, so she is no stranger to our industry,” said Kimberly Atkins, vice-president and chief operating officer at USGC. “She will certainly be an excellent addition to our team here at the Council.”
Prior to joining the Council, Appleton was special assistant to the executive vice-president of the United States Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C., where she managed the organizational planning process and assisted with the executive coordination of events management.
She received bachelor’s degrees in psychology and political science from Valparaiso University, a master’s degree in political science and international relations from the American University in Cairo, and a master’s degree in library science from Indiana University.
