The annual value of total E.U. agri-food exports in 2016 totaled €130.7 billion, an increase of 1.3% from 2015 and 29% higher than 2011.
Flours and other products of the milling industry increased 3.6% to €783 million.
Highest increases in annual export values were recorded for the United States (up €1.26 billion) and China (up €1.06 billion). Other major gains in E.U. agri-food exports were in Asian countries, such as Japan (up €414 million), Vietnam (up €348 million) and Korea (up €230 million).
In 2016, the value of E.U. agri-food imports fell to €112 billion. In particular, import values from main origin countries Brazil and the United States reduced, while the value of imports from Ivory Coast and from Peru increased the most.
The agri-food sector represents 7.5% of total E.U. exports in goods in 2016 and 6.6% of all imported goods are agri-food.
