MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, U.S. — The Minneapolis Grain Exchange (MGEX) on Nov. 2 reported the fourth highest volume during the month of October in its history, coming in at 153,358 contracts traded.
Total volume during October saw an 11% increase from September, the MGEX said, adding that it was the sixth month in this calendar year that total volume surpassed 150,000 contracts. Additionally, electronic volume finished at 136,032 contracts, surpassing September’s electronic volume by19%.
Calendar year volume now stands at 1,826,113 contracts with two months remaining.
MGEX concluded its fiscal year on Aug. 31, with a total volume of 2.26 million contracts, making it the second best fiscal year of all time.
It was the third-consecutive year the exchange’s total volume had surpassed 2 million contracts, falling short of last year’s total by less than 1%.
