The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Awards honor excellence in corporate citizenship in eight categories spanning social, environmental and economic stewardship. Over the past 17 years, some of the most accomplished social and community initiatives within the business sector have been recognized through the Corporate Citizenship Awards. In 2010, Cargill received the International Community Service Award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation for partnering with thousands of farmers in the Ivory Coast to provide training and increase incomes.
“Cargill’s commitment to food security and sustainability runs throughout the entire organization,” said Marc DeCourcey, senior vice-president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. “The company is improving the lives of millions of farmers and helping create a more food-secure world.”
In 2015, Cargill invested $3.43 billion in developed and emerging economies to build capacity and capabilities. From poultry in China to cocoa in Indonesia to grain and oilseed processing in Canada, Cargill aimed to increase the availability of safe, nutritious, affordable food for people around the world.
The winners of the 2016 Citizens Awards will be announced on Nov. 17 at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., U.S.
