MEXICO CITY, MEXICO — Don Roberto Servitje Sendra will retire as chairman of the board of directors for Grupo Bimbo SAB de CV on July 1, the Mexico City, Mexico-based company said April 9 at its annual general shareholders meeting. Daniel Servite Montull, chief executive officer, was named to succeed him as chairman.
Servitje Sendra joined Grupo Bimbo in 1945. He has served as chairman of the board since 1994. He also was executive vice-president from 1974-83 and chief executive officer from 1983-97.
“Don Roberto is a visionary businessman whose values helped shape Grupo Bimbo and lead the organization through its exponential growth in recent decades,” said Servite. “In him I found constant support and guidance. His integrity, accountability and demand for excellence have guided us through periods of transition and growth. I am honored to accept the role of chairman for this next chapter of Grupo Bimbo’s journey.”
