KOZYREVKA, RUSSIA — Four employees at a Russian feed mill were killed and two others injured on March 12 in a Ukrainian attack on the facility in Russia’s western Kursk region, Reuters reported, citing a statement from Kursk Governor Alexander Khinshtein on Telegram.

Khinshtein said three men and one woman, employees at the mill in Kozyrevka, died. One of the injured had been hospitalized, he said. The name of the feed mill was not disclosed.

The fighting between Russian and Ukrainian troops in that region has intensified in recent days, as Russia attempts to drive out Ukrainian forces that have occupied part of the region since last August, Reuters reported.

The two countries have been at war since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022. Russia has inflicted significant damage to grain facilities throughout Ukraine during the three-year period, particularly at the Black Sea and Danube River ports.

Ukraine agreed on March 11 to an immediate 30-day ceasefire negotiated by the United States if Russia accepts the plan. Russian officials said they are reviewing the proposal.
