GAINESVILLE, GEORGIA, US — Mar-Jac Poultry has unveiled plans to build a new transload facility in Perry County, Mississippi, US.
The company said the project would be a $25 million investment and create 21 jobs.
The New Augusta facility would use the county’s existing rail infrastructure to transport feed ingredients like grain, corn and soybean meal. The transload facility is expected to ensure a consistent and reliable feed supply, which is an important part of Mar-Jac’s operations, the company said.
“This transload facility represents a significant investment in Perry County and its residents,” said Keith Poss, transportation director at Mar-Jac. “We are thrilled to create well-paying jobs and contribute to the region’s economic vitality. This facility will play a key role in our ongoing efforts to provide consumers with high-quality, affordable poultry products.”
The facility plans to start with civil work during the first quarter of 2025. Mar-Jac will continue to discuss plans for expansion at the site with potential additional employment and economic opportunities in Perry County in the future.
Mar-Jac Poultry, which processes over 2 million birds per week, constructed a feed mill Maysville, Georgia, in 2005 that currently produces over 8,500 tons of feed per week.
