MYKOLAIV, UKRAINE — A gallery has been completed at Nibulon’s transshipment terminal in Mykolaiv that will provide the operational capability to load grain onto rail freight wagons, in addition to receiving, the company announced Nov. 6.

The new gallery has the capacity to load grain at the rate of one route per day, which is expected to contribute to a more flexible internal logistics system, said Nibulon, one of Ukraine’s largest grain exporters. Ukraine is a major global supplier of wheat, corn, barley and sunflower oil.

The $720,000 investment in the new gallery is part of a large-scale modernization of Nibulon’s grain elevator network announced in May. The company said the changes would affect the entire network in terms of automation, unification of services and mechanisms to ensure quality standards.

Nibulon is among the 20 largest companies in Ukraine. Prior to the Russian invasion in February 2022, Nibulon was exporting nearly 4 million tonnes of grain per year. After seeing exports plummet in the early stages of the war, Nibulon’s shipments have rebounded, and the company said in May that exports for the current marketing year are expected to be between 3.2 million and 3.4 million tonnes.
