DENVER, COLORADO, US — Twenty-five students studying agriculture at universities and colleges received scholarships to attend this year’s Women in Agribusiness Summit planned Sept. 24-26 in Denver, Colorado, US.
The students have been paired with corporate sponsors, who fund the students’ attendance at the three-day WIA Summit, along with providing guidance and mentorship. Applicants must be full-time junior or senior level undergraduate, graduate or doctoral candidate students attending an accredited college or university.
The scholarships give young women the opportunity to make important industry connections, see the many career options available in the agribusiness sector and learn about the trends and issues facing the industry today, WIA said. Additional benefits of the scholarship include lodging and meals at the event, a one-year WIA membership for each student, an exclusive student-only breakfast and workshop with industry executives, as well as the tremendous opportunity afforded by mingling and networking with nearly 1,000 attendees at the annual WIA Summit.
Nearly 300 students have benefited from the WIA scholarship program since its inception and dozens have secured employment and job opportunities on the spot at the annual WIA Summit.
