VILLARTA DE SAN JUAN, SPAIN — Starting Oct. 1, Symaga will be introducing a new steel type that will replace the structural steel it has been using on stiffeners and body sheets for its silos.

The switch to S450GD steel will improve the structural quality of its silos and reduce their final weight, Symaga said.

Benefits of the upgrade include:

  • Better structural quality: S450GD steel results in a higher yield strength, which is reached by reducing the overall weight of the silos without compromising their structural quality. Body sheets and stiffeners will be upgraded from 350N/mm2 to 450N/mm2, which will reduce the weight and decrease the cost of logistics and assembly.
  • A more robust and efficient supply chain, ensuring greater availability and narrowing down the purchasing references.

For a period of time, both types of steel will be in the production line to ensure deliveries.

“The implementation of a higher quality structural steel is a part of the annual Product Development Plan, aligned with our goal of optimizing storage solutions for our customers,” Symaga said.
