ISTANBUL, TURKEY — Imas was again listed among the top 250 R&D leaders of Turkey by Turkishtime, as it has since 2015.

The company was also among the top 10 R&D leaders of Turkish Machinery Industry.

Imas was listed 174th among the top R&D leaders, moving up from 184th last year. The company’s R&D budget for 2023 was $1.75 million, with spending totaling $1.6 million.

Turkishtime bases its list on the annual expenditures of companies on R&D activities.

“We work on bringing innovations for grain and feed milling industries, as well as offering value addition for our country,” said Murat Apakhan, Imas production and R&D deputy general manager. “In our recent R&D projects, we focus on the industry’s orientation through better process control, sanitation, energy saving, and digitalization. In the last year, we introduced Polymer Base Construction as being a new chassis design for roller mills with higher durability, which was given an innovation award during IAOM USA exhibition. And this year, we introduced new generation torque motors for roller mills, as a leading application providing a major advantage on energy saving in grain milling. We also have plans to come out with some other significant projects by the end of this year.”

The mission of the Imas R&D Center is to set new engineering standards in the grain and feed milling industries, by continuously developing new machines, systems, and technological solutions.

The Imas R&D Center works with a large team that also includes university- industry partnership in Konya, Turkey. All activities, including the engineering, design development, testing, and validation, are carried out utilizing the latest technology including advanced testing and software-based analysis methods.

In addition, both empty and loaded performance tests and trials on grain and feed milling machinery, as well as mechanical and pneumatic conveying equipment, are carried out. Validation tests for new and improved designs are also done on prototypes.
