OMAHA, NEBRASKA, US — Scoular on June 29 announced that Kari O’Neill Potts will be joining the company’s leadership team as chief legal officer and corporate secretary.

O’Neill Potts, who previously was Scoular’s senior associate general counsel-International Commercial Transactions, brings more than 15 years of legal experience and expertise in global commercial markets, the agriculture industry, and manufacturing and sales to the role. Scoular noted that O’Neill Potts has served in various in-house legal and operations leadership roles, starting her career at an Omaha-based corporate law firm.  

In her new role, O’Neill Potts will lead Scoular’s legal team and serve as principal adviser on legal, risk, compliance, governance and other matters to Scoular’s senior leadership team and board of directors.  

“Kari is not only a knowledgeable and trusted legal and business adviser but also an exceptional all-around leader who will help Scoular to achieve its strategy for growth,” said Paul Maass, chief executive officer.

O’Neill Potts, whose promotion is effective July 13, fills the role previously held by Megan Belcher, who is leaving Scoular to be chief legal officer at another company.   

O’Neill Potts was named a Tribute to Women Honoree by the Women’s Center for Advancement in Omaha and received a 40-under-40 Award from theMidlands Business Journal. She is board president for the Omaha Public Schools Foundation, board president of Mentor Nebraska, and a board member of the Omaha Community Foundation.
