CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA — OPI hired Daniel Portela, an experienced ag business innovator, as vice president of product.

“OPI is thrilled to have Daniel not only leading our product team, but as a valued member of our executive team,” said Adam Weiss, president of OPI. “He brings a wealth of experience in strategy and execution, and a market-focused approach to product development.”

As vice president of product, Portela spearheads expansion initiatives into novel product lines and oversees the development and launch of new iterations in the current product portfolio. He also serves on the executive team.

A proven global agribusiness and ag tech leader, Portela is a native of Brazil with experience across multiple business, agriculture and technology segments. His career includes time in product management, supply chain management and product strategy with TELUS Agriculture, United Farmers of Alberta Co-operative Ltd. and Ranbaxy.

“I’m passionate about supporting farmers and their businesses,” he said.

Portela studied business administration and international commerce at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, São Paulo, Brazil.
