TILBURY, ENGLAND — Frontier Agriculture, a UK-based crop production and grain marketing business, extended a long-term strategic partnership with the Port of Tilbury with a new five-year agreement to support grain exports through the port’s busy agricultural hub.
“We have a long and collaborative working relationship with the port, and we’re delighted to share this announcement,” said Simon Christensen, grain director of Frontier Agriculture. “This extension to our partnership is good news for our farmer-customers in the southeast of England as it gives further confidence in the long-term availability of access to export marketing options for their produce.”
The Port of Tilbury is the largest of eight ports owned by Forth Ports. Situated on the north bank of the Thames about 40 kilometers east of central London, it is the largest multi-modal port in the southeast and third largest port group in the United Kingdom.
The port plays an important role in the UK grain market through the largest combined import and export grain terminal in the country, which has its own dedicated riverside deep water berth and 200 separate silos capable of holding between 60 to 200 tonnes of grain, resulting in an annual capacity of 2 million tonnes split evenly between import and export.
“This is an important announcement as we agree to a long-term agreement with Frontier,” said Peter Ward, commercial director at the Port of Tilbury. “Our relationship with the team at Frontier spans well over 40 years, and this new agreement further strengthens our agricultural hub’s position for the southeast of England.”
Port of Tilbury, which has been in operation for more than 50 years, on Aug. 31, 2022, announced thecompletion of a major construction projectin which 10 grain silos and a flat storage unit with a combined storage capacity of 36,000 tonnes were installed.
