MUSCAT, OMAN — Oman Flour Mills Co. (OFMC) inaugurated its new feed mill, with a capacity of 20 tonnes per hour, in Muttrah, during a Dec. 13 ceremony, the Times of Oman reported.
The mill, construction of which began in November 2022, is designed to operate sustainably, economically and with a minimal environmental footprint, while augmenting local animal feed production. The facility also has a 6 tph pre-mix unit.
“This isn’t just another plant,” said Haitham Mohamed al Fannah, chief executive officer of OFMC, in August as construction neared completion. “It’s designed to churn out 20 tonnes of specialized feed every hour, catering to the distinct nutritional needs of various livestock.”
The facility uses cutting-edge technology, from robotics that streamline packaging to innovative control systems.
“Our robots not only simplify packaging but also cut costs,” Fannah said. “This ensures uniformity and precision. Our advanced control systems oversee every aspect of production. They ensure the consistency of our feed and allow real-time adjustments, ensuring top-notch quality.”
The broader goal of the plant beyond immediate production is to support the livestock sector’s growth in Oman. It aims to cut down on imports, satisfying local and regional demand with homegrown, quality products.
“This not only supports the national economy but also strengthens Oman’s agricultural and livestock sectors,” Fannah said. “The animal feed plants stand central to Oman’s agriculture and livestock vision. They elevate productivity, enhance quality and foster a self-sustained economy.”
