BEIJING, CHINA — China imported 7.92 million tonnes of soybeans in November, an increase of 7.8% from a year earlier, Reuters reported, citing customs data.
For the first 11 months of the year, imports totaled 89.63 million tonnes, an increase of 13.3% from the same time a year ago.
Imports from the United States have been lower than usual this year as China, the world’s top soybean buyer, opts for cheaper oilseeds from Brazil.
A rebound for US soybeans could be coming as China ramps up purchases, Reuters said. A severe drought in Brazil has disrupted planting and dampened the production outlook.
