LUBBOCK, TEXAS, US — Craig Meeker of Wellington, Kansas, US, was elected to a second term as chairman of the National Sorghum Producers (NSP) board of directors during its annual meeting in August.
Amy France of Scotty City, Kansas, US, will continue to serve as vice chair, and Kody Carson of Olton, Texas, US, retains his position as past chair, while the board also added one new director. New directors and officers took their respective positions on the NSP board Oct. 1.
“This executive leadership team has represented sorghum farmers exceptionally well this past year, and we look forward to following their leadership through 2024,” said Tim Lust, chief executive officer of NSP. “As we near more concentrated farm bill debate and other issues pressing sorghum farmers and the industry, Craig, Amy and Kody serve as a shining example of dedication and expertise, guiding us toward a more prosperous and sustainable future for sorghum in the United States. Our industry is fortunate to have them at the helm of this industry during this important time.”
Scott Frazier of Chapman Ranch, Texas, US, is the board’s newest elected member. He produces sorghum, cotton, corn and cattle and has served on the Texas Farm Bureau & Affiliated Companies board of directors as secretary/treasurer.
Marc Adams with CoBank was also re-elected to the board. Frazier and Adams will serve a three-year term that began Oct. 1. The NSP board also recognized Jay Wilder of Snook, Texas, US, whose director term ended Sept. 30.
“We are deeply appreciative of the leadership and insight that Jay has offered during his tenure in the sorghum industry,” Meeker said. “I hold immense respect for his significant contributions to our industry and extend my best wishes to Jay as he embarks on his next chapter.”
