LOCHEM, NETHERLANDS — ForFarmers’ sale of its compound feed business in Belgium to Arvesta was approved by Belgian competition authorities on Sept. 29.
Arvesta will acquire the compound feed activities, employees, production site in Izegem and mill in Ingelmunster in West Flanders from ForFarmers. ForFarmers’ sale activities regarding co-products, organic feed by Reudink and horse feed by Pavo are excluded from this transaction.
The transaction, first announced in April, will be closed by mid-October, when ForFarmers will receive a net amount of €25 million in cash from Arvesta as agreed in the sale/purchase agreement.
Arvesta currently has production facilities for professional feeds in Aalter, Merksem, Kortrijk, Andenne and Hombourg. The purchase from ForFarmers will add about 80 employees and 420,000 tonnes of feed production.
ForFarmers, a European compound feed manufacturer based in the Netherlands, said this transaction fits with the company’s strategic focus, with an emphasis on ecological and economic returns.
ForFarmers provides complete innovative feed solutions to the livestock farming industry with activities in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom and Poland and annual sales of about 9 million tonnes of animal feed in Europe.
