DES MOINES, IOWA, US — Farmer-owned cooperative Landus has purchased land and assets located centrally between the Iowa cities of Fort Dodge, Humboldt, Badger and Clare. The site was previously owned and operated by Sparboe Companies.
Landus said it plans to invest in upgrades to the site, including a new grain and agronomy facility.
“At Landus, our focus first and foremost is on the needs of the farmer, and to provide what the farmer is asking for,” said Matt Carstens, president and chief executive officer of Landus. “The decision to invest here was driven entirely by feedback from the farmers in that region who have been demanding more. We have heard them, and we are excited to bring our Landus offerings to this area and continue to put our farmer-owners at the center of everything we do.”
Des Moines, Iowa-based Landus is one of North America’s largest grain storage companies with precision agronomy and grain marketing services, as well as corn and soybean processing. According to Sosland Publishing Co.’s 2023 Grain & Milling Annual, Landus has 56 licensed grain storage facilities that can hold 152.686 million bushels. In late July, Landus signed a letter of intent to purchase the Central Farm Service grain facility in Bricelyn, Minnesota, US.
