KINCARDINE, ONTARIO, CANADA — Upgrades at the Parrish & Heimbecker Ltd. (P&H) grain handling facility in Kincardine, Ontario, Canada, will increase unloading speeds and expand storage capacity, the company said.
The planned upgrade includes a new dryer and wet storage system, a kiosk for the self-weighing of trucks, a probing station and larger receiving pits.
“These upgrades will not only improve the efficiency of our facility, but they will also benefit our customers by allowing them to unload their grain quickly and easily, reducing wait times and improving their overall experience,” said Bruce Humphries, general manager of P&H Kincardine.
Faster unload times will eliminate lineups and enhance food safety and quality control capabilities. The addition of self-loading of outbound trucks also will reduce wait times and improve overall efficiency.
Construction has started and the upgrades are expected to be complete in early 2024.
P&H, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, operates 40 licensed grain storage facilities with a total capacity of 23.4 million bushels, according to Sosland Publishing Co.'s 2023 Grain & Milling Annual.
“As we move forward with these and other upgrades and additions in our Eastern region, our goal is not only to provide the best services to our customers but also to support the local community and economy,” said Darryl Markle, director Eastern operations. “We are excited to be investing in this region and look forward to continuing to serve it for many years to come.”
