OMAHA, NEBRASKA, US — A total of $25,000 will be awarded to five high school and college students who have demonstrated leadership in academics and in their community as part of the Paul and Julie Maass Scholarship. The program was launched in 2021 by Scoular chief executive officer Paul Maass and his wife, Julie.
As part of the Paul and Julie Maass Scholarship program, children of hourly employees at Scoular may receive up to a $5,000 scholarship to assist in funding tuition, books, and certain other expenses incurred at a four-year accredited university or two-year accredited institutions of higher learning. Selection is based upon a variety of factors, including need, leadership in academics and the community, and grade point average, with preference to those demonstrating compassion and community service.
The recipients of the 2023 scholarships included a Science Olympian, National Honor Society and leadership program members and participants in activities ranging from marching band to 4-H, Scoular said.
“I am so inspired by these talented young leaders, their achievements and the ways they give back to their communities,” Mr. Maass said. “My wife, Julie, and I are passionate about education and excited we can express our gratitude to our dedicated employees by providing these scholarships. Congratulations to this year’s recipients and their parents.”
