BRUSSELS, BELGIUM – COCERAL is predicting total grain output of 309.5 million tonnes for the EU-27+UK in its third forecast for the 2022 crop year. The most recent projection is higher than the previous forecast in March of 305.6 million tonnes but lower than the 312 million tonnes harvested in 2021.
Wheat production (excluding durum) is forecast at 143 million tonnes, up from the 141.3 million tonnes in the previous forecast but down from last year’s 143.9 million tonnes. Much of the improvement in the forecast is due to timely rain in Spain, COCERAL said.
Barley production for the EU-27+UK in 2022 is forecast at 60 million tonnes, slightly up from 59.4 million tonnes last year.
The EU-27+UK 2022 corn crop is now seen at 66 million tonnes, down from the previous forecast of 67.3 million tonnes and last year’s output of 67.2 million tonnes.
Rapseed production for the EU-27+UK in 2022 is forecast at 19.5 million tonnes, compared with 19.3 million tonnes that was projected in March and 18.5. million tonnes last year.
